On June 2nd Meals on Wheels joined 25 other nonprofits for a great morning of comraderie and exercise during the annual Highmark Walk for a Healthy Community. Meals on Wheels walkers and supporters raised almost $10,000 which will provide 1440 meals to our homebound clients.
This year's walk, completely underwritten by Highmark Blue Shield, took place at the Steelstacks in Bethlehem. Under gorgeous blue skies, 35 Meals on Wheels team walkers made it through the 5K loop or the one mile fun loop.
Top fundraisers were Kelly Blanar in the individual category and Team LSI in the team category. Kelly will receive a Visa gift certificate and LSI team members will get a night out at an IronPigs game.
