Every year the Agency recognizes an outstanding supporter.
This year Meals on Wheels presented the Agency’s Community Partnership Award to
Asbury United Methodist Church for its outstanding support. Asbury United
Methodist has a delivery team of 10 who cover one delivery route every
Thursday. The team members are Evelyn Hart, coordinator, Shirley Baxter,
Lucretia Crandell, Judy Ehninger, Bill Hart, Virginia Myers, Manly Offutt and
Peg Samois. Chuck Ehninger and Eilenn Dolcin are substitutes. They have
been delivering meals since February 16, 2006 and have logged 5,107 miles and
1,706 hours. Asbury United Methodist also provides the space for the
Agency’s Annual Volunteer Recognition dinner and financial support through an
annual grant to subsidize meals for low-income clients.
Pam Bechtel, Meals on Wheels Executive Director, said:
“Asbury United Methodist Church is a consistent and dedicated partner to Meals
on Wheels. Their generosity of time, talent, and financial support allows
us to reach people throughout the community who need our service.
Asbury’s delivery volunteers, so ably coordinated by the late Nancy Pietrobon
and now by Evelyn Hart, exemplify the value of group volunteering. Making
a sustained commitment to improving the lives of our clients, these wonderful
volunteers have become familiar and much-loved faces representing Meals on
Wheels.”
