This year, 29 nonprofits participated in the Highmark Walk for a Healthy Community on May 30. This 5k or 1-mile-fun walk is a great morning out for healthy exercise and charitable giving. Highmark underwrites the entire cost of the walk and handles all the logistics, so every dollar that each nonprofit raises goes directly to the nonprofit's cause.
This is the 6th year that we participated in this event. Through the Walk and a wraparound spring appeal, we raised almost 36,000 to subsidize over 14,000 meals for our clients.
