On Saturday, May 31st, Meals on Wheels of Lehigh County joined 23 other nonprofit gencies for the 10th Annual Highmark Walk for a Healthy Community. It was a beautiful morning for a charity walk with sunny skies and temperature in the 70’s. More than 100 Meals on Wheels walkers raised $17,324 for the Agency to fund 2400 meals for homebound seniors and adults with disabilities living in Lehigh County.
This is the fifth year that we have been one of the nonprofit agencies that benefit from this event, fully underwritten by Highmark. All the money raised by the participating nonprofits goes to the nonprofit. Highmark takes care of all the logistics from start to finish, handles the advertising and promotion and makes sure that the event is a fun morning out for everyone with entertainment, prizes and healthy snacks.
We truly appreciate all the work that our Walk Committee did to make sure that we met—and surpassed our goal of $15,000. The top individual fundraiser was Kelly Blanar and the top fundraising team was Air Products.
