The Board reelected the following officers for the 2013 term. Joseph Fenstermacher, Financial Advisor at Questar Capital, President; Alison A. Huddleston, Client Manager at Highmark Blue Shield, Vice President; Byron Bachman, VP of Operations, Celebrity Cleaning, Secretary; and James Faylor, CPA at Lang, Faylor and Chomo, Treasurer.
Every year Meals on Wheels recognizes an outstanding supporter. This year, Air Products and Chemicals was recognized for its outstanding financial and volunteer support.
Employees of Air Products, Kelly Blanar, Meals on Wheels Board Member and delivery volunteer; Terrie Moseman delivery volunteer, Leo Werkheiser, Operation Santa Claus coordinator, and Jacki Rosenberger, delivery volunteer, accepted the award on behalf of the company.
Upon presenting the award Pam Bechtel, Meals on Wheels Executive Director said:
"Over the years, Air Products has supported us financially donating over $100,000 which has funded more than 20,000 meals for our homebound clients.
The company has four employee delivery teams. In 2012, they have donated 3,480 hours, driven 10,417 miles, to make 13,050 visits, and deliver 26,100 meals ---all on their lunch hours!
One of our clients told me that when the Air Products team delivered on Tuesday, they gave her a really cute pack of tissues. She said it was such a bright little gift. She loved it. So they don’t just deliver, they go above and beyond.
Operation Santa -has brought presents and sheer delight to at least 1,000 clients over more than 20 years. Clients often exclaim things like …”This is for me? What did I do to deserve this?”
They choose thoughtful gifts and wrap and deliver them with care.
And, this year, they participated in our blizzard bag blitz and were supposed to collect 900 little cans of vegetables, but they could’t do that. Instead, they collected 2,112 cans! Over- achievers always.
Luckily, we are the recipient of that generous spirit ---from the company and their wonderful employees. These are people who embrace their corporate vision of “improving the lives of people in our communities.””
