Over 200 volunteers attended our
annual volunteer recognition dinner on April 24, 2013 at Asbury United
Methodist Church. The theme of “Driving
Miles…Delivering Smiles” reflected the accomplishments of this amazing group of
people. In 2012, our volunteers drove
153,794 miles and donated 36,593 hours. They
delivered smiles along with 135,285 meals, making 85,149 visits and brightening
our clients’ lives!
The program opened with remarks by
Executive Director Pam Bechtel and Board President Joe Fenstermacher who spoke about
the pride volunteers should have in the work that they do at Meals on
Wheels. Awards were presented by Dawn
Stillwagen, Coordinator of Volunteer Services, recognizing volunteers who
achieved various levels of service in 2012.
Penn Treaty Network America Insurance Company became the first corporate
team in our history to reach more than 2,500 hours of service! Sixteen volunteers who have reached this milestone
in years past were also recognized.
Attendees enjoyed a delicious dinner
of salad, chicken, wild rice and green beans prepared by Cura Hospitality from
