Every
year the Agency recognizes an outstanding supporter. This year Meals on Wheels
presented the Agency’s Community Partnership Award to the Jewish Federation of
the Lehigh Valley for its outstanding support.
Federation members have delivered meals to Meals on Wheels clients on
Christmas Day for forty years. These
volunteers donated 3,712
hours, made 9,280 visits and delivered 18,560 meals!
Pam
Bechtel, Meals on Wheels Executive Director, said: “Over the past 40 years, the
willingness of hundreds of individuals and families to come together to deliver
meals and a friendly greeting to all those clients spending the holiday on
their own was the embodiment of kindness and service. We
can’t thank Jewish Federation volunteers enough for this profound commitment to
reaching out to our homebound clients, alleviating the isolation and loneliness
that too often accompanies the holiday season.”
